Program Details

June 9 / 12:00 PM - July 21 / 6:00 PM

As meditation practice expands and we develop trust in basic goodness, we begin to discover the confidence and personal energy to go forward on the journey.  This leads to a sense of joy and bravery.  The Mahayana teachings on compassion become the inspiration for a life of cheerful discipline and freedom from doubt.

This online learning program takes place over a five week period, June 9 to July 21.  Each week you will watch a prerecorded talk by a Shambhala senior teacher or Acharya, read some brief supplementary texts, practice any assigned contemplations or exercises, and connect with your assigned study partner to discuss your view of the teaching.  We will then gather together as a group on Sunday, July 21.  We will sit together, watch the final talk (#5), discuss that talk and the JIEL teachings as a whole, and share some tea and snacks.

The cost for this program is $85, payable to Shambhala Online.  Their generosity policy allows you to pay more or less, depending or your circumstances.  You will need access to a computer with a high-speed internet connection to play the streaming videos.  They utilize Adobe Flash Player software, which is not supported on some Apple devices (such as iPhones and iPads).  Contact the Program Coordinator, Arel Good (, 317-840-8393) if you have any questions or problems.

Prerequisites:  Contentment In Everyday Life (CIEL) is a prerequisite for this program.
