Pema Chodron's Practice for Peace
July 14 / 9:00 AM - July 14 / 4:00 PM
Practice for Peace, for Pema Chodron’s 77th birthday.
Please join us at Austin Shambhala Meditation Center, on Sunday July 14th, to meditate for peace at Pema’s second annual, worldwide birthday retreat.
It will be like two expanded “Pema nights”: we will meditate, do yoga, then watch an hour-long DVD and have a brief discussion. The first session lasts from 9-12 AM. We will break for tea or lunch from noon to 1PM, and then repeat the morning schedule from 1-4 PM Suggested donation to ASMC, $5 per session. An additional donation, to the Pema Chodron Foundation, is optional, as your means and heart suggest. (Go to http://pemachodronfoundation.org/activities/the-nuns-of-tsoknyi-gechak-ling/ to see what Pema will do with her birthday money.)
The DVDs we will watch come from FULLY ALIVE published November, 2012. They present the experiential record of a retreat from which Pema developed her new book Living Beautifully with Uncertainty and Change. The teachings include:
§ A guided meditation for developing patience in the midst of irritation
§ Tips for accessing your innate strength and confidence—simply by altering your posture
This event is appropriate for beginners; Pema’s birthday greeting will include a brief tutorial on how to meditate.
Please register below to help the coordinators plan for the day. When registering, please add a note indicating whether you will be attending the morning session, evening session, or both. If you have any questions, please contact Ann Gardner at email@example.com.
