Uncovering Natural Awareness (Pema Chodron DVD Class Series) - THURSDAYS

with Ellen Schweri
June 20 / 6:30 PM - August 22 / 9:00 PM

What do we mean by “natural awareness” and non-meditation?   Practitioners are often ready to move from formal techniques to a more open “natural” form of meditation, and may benefit from guidance and encouragement.   This series of talks by Pema Chodron and the guided practices will introduce these notions and allow relaxed experimentation in an environment of gentleness and curiosity.

“Uncovering Natural Awareness," is a series of video talks given by Ani Pema Chodron at the Omega Institute in May, 2010.   Excerpts from these talks and the accompanying guided meditations by Tim Olmstead are offered at the Shambhala Center of Chicago on selected Thursdays and Saturdays from June 20 to Aug. 24.   Topics include practicing with the body, practicing with emotions, practicing with thoughts and practicing with sense perceptions.   We will work with both traditional meditation techniques and natural awareness or non-meditation experience.  The techniques are largely based on the work of Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche, The Joy of Living.

The classes are suitable for beginners as well as advanced practitioners.  Registration for the 8 class series will enable participants to attend either the Thursday sessions or the repeat Saturday sessions or both, if repetition or make-up is desired.   Drop in attendance is welcome for all sessions for a suggested fee of $10 per class session ($20 for the double Saturday sessions).
