Nyinthun - A Day of Practice
March 23 / 9:30 AM - June 29 / 4:30 PM
A Nyinthün is a day-long retreat at the Center. It is a great way to deepen and energize your meditation practice. The Nyinthün is open to all meditators of any tradition or experience level. Basic meditation instruction will be available upon request from 10:00 am – 11:00 am.
On the Shambhala path, we are first invited to develop a daily meditation practice, which provides gentleness, consistency and confidence in working with the mind. In time, we are introduced to longer sessions of meditation – day-long retreats, weekend programs, a Weekthün, week-long meditation retreat held regionally in the fall, and the month-long retreat of Dathün.
Longer retreats serve to deepen our connection with the natural strength, clarity and stability of the mind, and our inherent wisdom. The Sunday morning practices at the center offer a gentle step toward these longer practices. In that spirit, we are happy to announce a monthly offering of Nyinthün - a full day of practice. The intention of these monthly offerings is to allow a time and space for our community to deepen our practice together.
During a Nyinthün, periods of silent seated meditation are interspersed with walking meditation, contemplation, and may include shamatha yoga. A meditation instructor will be on hand for a check-in, if issues come up during the retreat. There are additional practices offered each month during the Nyinthün.
