(Nov) Fearlessness In Everyday Life
with John Sennhauser & Laura Simms
November 6 / 7:00 PM - December 11 / 9:00 PM
Learning to work with our anxiety, we are not blocked by fear. Through an exploration of the Buddhist teachings of mind and the nature of reality, we learn to see clearly. We dare to face life and death as they are. The meditator, open to uncertainty, goes beyond the emotions of hope and fear to experience equanimity.
Prerequisite: Joy in Everyday Life.
*Fearlessness in Everyday Life is designed as a companion course to Shambhala Training Level IV, thus completion of Level IV before or after the course is recommended (though not required)*
John Sennhauser is a senior teacher whose involvement with Shambhala began in 1977 when he went to Naropa Institute in Boulder, CO to study in the dance and theater departments. He was at the time an attorney in Seattle representing Native Americans. He became a student of Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche and then after his death, became a personal secretary of Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, the current lineage holder of Shambhala. John teaches from a perspective of integrating his personal background and experiences with the traditional and innovative teachings of Shambhala Buddhism.
Laura Simms has been practicing meditation since 1973, and has formed a deep connection with social action and the Shambhala Arts. She is a professional storyteller and author, as well as the director of the international organization, The Lion’s Roar, which creates initiatives in community and compassion.
