Mudra Space Awareness is a series of exercises designed to bring us into our bodies and beyond conceptual mind to direct experience. The practice combines postures of intensification and relaxation and focused sensory awareness practices to transcend our understanding of “self” and the mind/body relationship to space. Mudra explores total involvement. How do we engage s-p-a-c-e directly in its many different forms – open and relaxed, dense and intensified, and the space of our minds? This extraordinary secular method drawn from Tibetan monastic dance and developed for living in today’s world by Chögyam Trungpa, Rinpoche, Tibetan Buddhist meditation master, is a means to transcend our habitual ways of relating to space and, as a result, to ourselves, others, and the environment.

Through rigorous exploration of synchronizing body, speech, mind, and space, we become present. This total involvement increases our core energy and confidence and strengthens mindfulness and awareness. Then each “mudra” or gesture we make is real and thorough. This forms the basis for genuine activity and expression in everyday life.

Acharya Duquette brings years of exploration and training in Mudra Space Awareness to her practice and presentations. Her return visit to Shambhala Albany to teach Mudra Space Awareness is a must attend event.  We encourage early registration as space will be limited.
