Midsummer Day Celebration

June 22 / 9:30 AM - June 22 / 2:30 PM

Join us for a very special community outing to Spectacle Island, one of the exquisite Boston Harbor Islands!

The Shambhala community comes together in many ways – to practice, learn, serve others... and to celebrate! By joining spiritual practice with the practicalities, challenges and joys of everyday life, we aspire to create a society that expresses the dignity of human experience. Midsummer Day is an opportunity for families and friends in Shambhala to enjoy summer fun together as we celebrate the Summer Solstice.

-Please bring a dish to share for a picnic lunch! There is no grilling at Spectacle Island, so all food should be already prepared. If your last name begins with A-G, please bring a main dish. H-P please bring a side dish, Q-Z please bring a dessert!

-Please bring your own water bottle. There is also a snack shack on the island where water and soft drinks can be purchased. Alcohol is not permitted on the island.

-Traditionally, we dress in an uplifted way on Nyida Days as a way of delighting in our own and others' dignity. Please wear comfortable clothing that also inspires wakefulness!

-Kite flying for all ages is an island activity that we will be able to participate in. Click here for more information.

-Ferry tickets are $15. You are welcome to travel with the group or on your own time as well. Click here for the full ferry schedule.

-There is not much shelter from rain on Spectacle Island; therefore we have set a rain date for Saturday, July 13. In case of rain, a postponement announcement will happen by 8:00am on Saturday morning or the night before.
