CONTENTMENT IN EVERYDAY LIFE

May 6 / 8:00 AM - June 8 / 5:00 PM

Our meditation experience is deepened through cultivation of contentment and simplicity.  We explore the foundational views of the hinayana Buddhist teachings , as well as meditation in action for our daily lives.  By understanding the conditions and emotions that keep us trapped in habitual patterns, we can begin to express the qualities of gentleness, appreciation and steadiness.

This online learning program takes place over a five week period, today through June 9.  Each week you will watch a prerecorded talk by a Shambhala senior teacher or Acharya, read (optional) some short supplementary texts, practice any assigned contemplations or exercises, and connect with your assigned study partner to discuss your view of the teaching.  We will, ideally, meet together as a group on or near June 9.  We will sit together, watch the final talk (#5) , discuss that talk and the CIEL teachings as a whole, and share a meal or tea.  (Date and details to be worked out once we are up and running.)

The cost for this program is $85, payable to Shambhala Online.  Their generosity policy allows you to pay more or less, depending or your circumstances.  You will need access to a computer with a high-speed internet connection to play the streaming videos.  They utilize Adobe Flash Player software, which is not supported on some Apple devices (such as iPhones and iPads).  Contact the Program Coordinator, Arel Good (ricgood@sbcglobal.net, 317-840-8393) if you have any questions or problems.

Prerequisites:  There are NO prerequisites for this program.  It is considered an entry-level program.  Anyone can attend.  Note, however, that this program (CIEL) is a prerequisite for the next program in the series, Joy In Everyday Life (JIEL).
