Nyinthun: A Day of Practice

November 17 / 10:00 AM - November 17 / 3:00 PM

A day-long meditation intensive, or nyinthun, is a great way to deepen and energize your meditation practice.

During a nyinthun, periods of silent seated meditation are interspersed with walking meditation, shamatha yoga, and time for study and reflection. We'll begin at 9:30 am with coffee and tea (provided).

Practice starts promptly at 10:00 am. At 10:45 we will have a short dharma talk.  At noon we'll break for lunch, resuming at 1:00 pm. We'll begin and end the day with  a short set of traditional group chants.  Much of the day will be spent in functional silence.

Though nyinthun is best experienced in its entirety, people are free to arrive and leave at any time.  Meditators of any tradition or experience level are welcome.  Basic meditation instruction will be provided for those who request it from 10-noon.  (If you have never meditated before, please contact the organizers before attending.)

Please feel free to bring a sack lunch.  We will observe Noble Silence during lunch.

Please register so we may know that you are coming.

Cost:  Suggested donations of $5.00 per day are welcome.
