Pittsburgh Shambhala Meditation Center's fifth joint celebration of Vesak Day!
A celebration of Siddhartha Shakyamuni Buddha’s birth, enlightenment and Parinirvana.
Everyone is welcome to this multitraditional Buddhist event offered by Pittsburgh Buddhist organizations.

10:00am - 10:30am - Sitting Meditation Practice
10:30am - 11:40am - Contemplation and discussion on the Four Noble Truths
- First Truth: Life means suffering
- Second Truth: The origin of suffering is attachment
- Third Truth: The cessation of suffering is attainable
- Fourth Truth: The path to the cessation of suffering
11:40am - 12:00 noon - Sitting Meditation Practice
3:00pm - 5:00pm - Vesak Day Celebration at Allegheny Unitarian Universalist Church (North Side/Downtown)

Highlights of the event are the bathing of Baby Buddha, chanting, offerings, sutra recitation, dharma words, group meditation for world peace, and a procession to Allegheny Landing for a ceremony releasing water into the rivers wishing peace for the world. A reception will follow. Children’s activities will be available.
This Event is FREE but donations to the Buddhist Society of Pittsburgh are welcome.
