SunDay Assembly: The Shambhala Principle & The Birth of Society
with Daniel Hessey
May 5 / 10:30 AM - May 5 / 12:30 PM
Please join us on May 5 for a special Sun Day Assembly devoted to Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche's new book, The Shambhala Principle: Discovering Humanity's Hidden Treasure, and his recent letter to the Sangha, The Birth of Society.
Acharya Daniel Hessey will lead our discussion and contemplation at this gathering.
In The Birth of Society, the Sakyong describes his inspiration for writing The Shambhala Principle, and previews the central theme he invites us to explore in the book. He says,
This book has the potential of being very important for our community. It centers around the question, Do we, as humans, believe and trust in the basic goodness of humanity, as well as society? Not only does it identify the question of human nature as the most important global issue that we face today, it also offers the principle of basic goodness as a way of addressing our personal and social challenges.
After Acharya Hessey's teaching, everyone is invited to stay for high tea, additional discussion and social time in the Community Room. Child care will be available between 10:20 am and 12:30 pm. There is no charge for this event, and no registration is necessary.
Special Opportunity: Buy the book before it is released
