with Tom Berthoff
May 18 / 1:00 PM - May 18 / 4:00 PM
In this session, we’ll be working on preparing to give a talk.
We’ll look into published resources that are available, both in the physical world and online.
We’ll talk about the teaching lineages that the Vidyadhara Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche held and that the Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche holds, in order to start to get a grasp on the uniqueness of the approach presented in the Shambhala centers, and in order to structure a plan of attack for future study.
One specific technique for presenting the dharma that the Vidyadhara introduced was the principle of “three-fold logic.” During the second half of the class, we’ll talk about the various three-fold logics that exist and get some practice applying them to a topic.
Those who would like can volunteer before the class to select one of the Vidyadhara’s or the Sakyong’s talks to analyze from the three-fold logic point of view and to present during the class.
A reception will follow the program.
(Prerequisite: being a Teacher, Assistant Teacher, AD, MI, Shambhala Guide, or Practice Instructor in Philadelphia)
