Harvest of Peace Festival: Music, Vegetarian Food, and More
September 21 / 10:00 AM - September 22 / 8:00 AM
The Harvest of Peace, which corresponds in the calendar with the United Nations International Day of Peace, is a celebration of and a plea for a more peaceful, aware, and mindful treatment of the earth by its human inhabitants.
Harvest of Peace was begun as an annual event several years ago by Sakyong Mipham, Rinpoche and the worldwide Shambhala meditation community. "Sakyong" means "earth protector." As the head of the Shambhala lineage, which comes from Tibet and is over 1000 years old, his primary function is to bring a message of peace, compassion and balance to the human race's social, economic, religious, and spiritual worlds.
The Harvest of Peace celebration in Cuyahoga Falls will feature local musicians in a two-day music festival, demonstrations of yoga and other contemplative traditions, local food-based booths from farmers, gardeners, restaurants, and organizations (we have room for about 20 of these), presentations and a possible peace conference, and space for like-minded non-profits to put up displays.
There has never been anything like this in local history, and the Akron-Canton Shambhala Center is very excited to be able to host this historic event.
Food booths will include the Whole Foods company, along with local farmers and gardeners.
