Shambhala Meditation - a new practice and transmission

Shambhala Meditation is not another technique to learn. It is the essence or spirit of meditation. In Shamatha we become trained to become comfortable and settled in the virtuous object of meditation. In Shambhala Meditation WE ARE the virtuous object of meditation. Our understanding of basic goodness through feeling, being and touching is the object of meditation. It is a tantric practice as the ground, path and fruition are all the same – basic goodness.

Shambhala Meditation is a method to gain certainty in basic goodness.

This practice the Sakyong has given to us shows us on a very simple and profound level how to just be.

Through our senses we focus on what we are feeling in the moment which connects us to our and everyone else's humanness. We touch the space and breath of our tradition.

The depth and simplicity of Shambhala Meditation makes it very powerful but it is also easy to become too naive about it. The Sakyong has composed a text on Shambhala Meditation which helps us to understand the profundity of it and dive deeper into our own genuineness and basic goodness.

During this week long City Retreat Acharya Barbara Märtens will familiarize us with the practice and present teachings on excerpts of the text.
