April 26 / 6:30 PM - April 28 / 6:00 PM
Chicago will be the first stop on the Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche’s Creating Enlightened Society Tour April 26-28. These gatherings coincide with the release of The Sakyong’s new book, The Shambhala Principal: Discovering Humanity’s Hidden Treasure. In Chicago we were presented with an unusual opportunity to do something that has never been done before by a Shambhala community.
The University of Chicago will host the Sakyong at Rockefeller Chapel where he will give a keynote address entitled Creating Enlightened Society. The weekend program is called Imagining Peace and will be led by the Sakyong and Acharya Adam Lobel in partnership with various public and private organizations working to end youth violence in Chicago. Through the lens of basic goodness, the weekend will focus on an issue that makes the news everyday—violence, especially youth violence, and how it affects our whole society. We have partnered with many other organizations to plan this event, including young leaders whose lives have been deeply affected by violence in their communities.
More information and registration is at the Imagining Peace website in Chicago.
