Heart of Recovery

April 22 / 8:00 PM - April 22 / 9:30 PM

The Heart of Recovery group gathers every Monday at 8pm to discuss addictions, dependencies, and compulsive behaviors using the complementary wisdoms of Shambhala Buddhism and 12-step programs. It adheres to common 12-step form regarding confidentiality, and uses a talking stick format with limited cross talk.

The hour-long sessions begin with sitting meditation, and often take as starting point a reading or contemplation brought by one of those attending. Those present are encouraged to talk about their personal experiences or to share more general questions and insights.

The group meets at the Center, downstairs, and is open to all those who want support and tools as they work with their addictions or compulsive patterns. Basic meditation instruction is available by appointment. There are no fees or commitments.

Association with the Shambhala Center is not required, but those with some experience in meditation, Shambhala/Buddhist teachings, and 12-step programs will benefit most.
