The center will be offering community yoga classes. These will be mixed-level asana classes that will help cultivate awareness of the body by encouraging proper alignment and building balance and strength. Many will find that this practice can heighten mindfulness and calmness in the body, which can benefit and support a regular sitting practice in which we try to bring the same to our minds.
All classes are open to the DC Shambhala community and we encourage you to invite family, friends, co-workers, etc. No prior experience with yoga is required, everyone is welcome regardless of skill level.
Classes are by donation, and all proceeds go to the center.
Useful things to keep in mind:
- Please bring your own mat to class.
- Wear comfortable cloths that will allow you to move freely, but avoid clothing that is too loose as it might encumber your movement.
- Out of courtesy to others in the class, avoid wearing perfumes or scented lotions.
- Always inform your teacher of any prior injuries or physical issues, past or current.
