Shambhala Arts Festival: Day 2: Festive Art

Suggested Donation: $10/session or $40 all day

Please join us for all or part of a weekend of events celebrating and growing the arts in our community. Families are warmly invited to attend.

A mini-film festival with live, local, and international cinema!

Session 1 - Live & International

10:30am- Sitting
11:00am- Noon: Live, International Nyida Day Address by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche


Session 2 - Live & Local

1:30-3:00pm: Harlem Shake Video Shoot w/ local Film Director Philip Van Scotter.  Be in the Portland Shambhala version of this internet video meme!

Session 3 - Local

3:30-4:00pm: Local Artisans Slide Show curated by Forrest Hale, presenting visual art by local Sangha Members w/ music by Thacher Schmid.

4:00-5:00pm: Buskers Bounty: A silent comedy by local filmmakers Philip Van Scotter and Abbey Pleviak

Session 4 - International

7:00-7:30pm: Quiet Mind: Meditation for Real Life: Miksang:  Documentary about Miksang photography practice

7:30-8:45pm: An Uncommon King: Documentary about Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, with archival footage from his youth growing up in India until the birth of his first child.
