Buddhist Approach to Living & Dying
with Frank Ryan
July 12 / 7:00 PM - July 12 / 9:00 PM
Please join the Shambhala community for a facilitated discussion of the buddhist approach of fully engaging the challenges and insights that accompany the process of dying. The evening will include an exploration of the specific stages everyone encounters during the final stages of dying. This naturally includes the physical and psychological experiences which accompany these stages. Funeral rites, care of the body, and the role of others providing support will be discussed. There will be close consideration of how to relate with environment, personal preparations, and the relationships which come to the fore during this time.
This is the concluding segment of a three-part series on End of Life issues. The first one (March 7th) explored choices at end of life. The second (Sunday evening, April 28) will be on working skillfully with the process of having difficult conversations surrounding death. Feel free to invite family and/or friends to these events.
Frank Ryan has studied directly with the founder of the Shambhala community, the Vidyadhara Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, and his successor, Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, for over thirty years.
