Shambhala Training Level II Weekend Retreat

Shambhala Training LEVEL II Weekend Retreat continues the discipline of meditation practice, enabling participants to work with obstacles that may have arisen as meditation practice develops. We explore how habitual ways of thinking obscure the raw brilliance of the world, and we open to our own genuineness. Finally, we learn how to work with fear as we cultivate the willingness to see our deep-seated habits and defenses.


Shambhala Training provides a strong foundation in mindfulness-awareness meditation practice, emphasizing the development of genuine confidence, humor, and personal dignity within the complexity of daily life. Each weekend retreat includes meditation training and practice, talks by senior teachers, individual conversations with meditation instructors, group dialogues, and a concluding celebration.


This LEVEL II is part of the Way of Shambhala curriculum and is followed by an optional five-week course entitled 'CONTENTMENT in Everyday Life'. While the weekend level emphasizes a deeper experience of meditation, the CONTENTMENT course emphasizes how we can apply the teachings to our daily life situations. Acharya Eve Rosenthal
teaches for Shambhala throughout Canada, the United States and Europe. She is a long-time practitioner and instructor of Tai Chi Chuan and is based in Halifax, Nova Scotia where she lives with her spouse, Basia.  She is the founder of Shambhala Online which offers live, interactive events with groups from across the worldwide Shambhala community.  She is Chair of the Acharya Council, Shambhala’s most senior teachers.

The Way of Shambhala series provides a strong foundation in mindfulness-awareness meditation and is composed of Shambhala Training Levels I-V, plus an optional accompanying five-week 'In Everyday Life' course. The series is designed to be applicable to the complexity of our daily lives. With gentleness and precision we can develop courage and sanity in these troubled times of uncertainty. 


The Shambhala Training Levels I-V and the Everyday Life classes can also each be taken as a stand alone series.


Over the course of a year, the Way of Shambhala introduces the entire Shambhala path. It offers a glimpse of the Shambhala vision of enlightened society by emphasizing the ways in which meditation can impact our daily lives, and from there, how the sanity of meditation can expand to impact our whole society.
