The Profound Treasury of the Ocean of Dharma
August 19 / 6:00 PM - August 19 / 7:30 PM
A study group is forming to take a close look at this newly edited compilation of the Ven. Chogyam Trungpa's thirteen Vajradhatu Seminary transcripts. They have been topically arranged by editor Acharya Emeritus Judy Lief and cover a vast outline of Buddhist Dharma. We plan to read and discuss this material, now available for the first time publicly, and published by Shambhala Publications, Boston.
The three-volume set covers the Hinayana, Mahayana and Vajrayana teachings given orally by the Vidyadhara to his students over thirteen different, 3-month practice and study intensive training sessions. We are starting with Volume 1, The Path of Individual Liberation. Our plan is to read through each volume in sequence in its entirety, with discussion as we go through the material each evening. (It may take us about a year or so to read all three volumes.)
We meet Monday evenings from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., beginning April 1st, 2013.
It is not necessary to buy the books. We have a copy to share as we take turns reading each evening. Homework will not be assigned, however if students miss a night, they may wish to make up the missed reading at TSMC. (We have a set of the Profound Treasury reserved for your use.) The Center is open three nights a week (M, W, Th) from 6:00 to 7:30 or 8:00 p.m., as well as Sunday mornings. 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. (Make-up study needs to take place at TSMC so the books are available to others. You cannot sign them out.)
Of course, if they wish, students are welcome to purchase their own set of the Profound Treasure from Amazon.com or Shambhala Publications. Cost varies depending on source and there could be a wait time through Amazon.com although they offer a considerable
discount as well.)
If you wish to join the group, please contact Sylvie Stevenson at 405-8313 or by e-mail at< email@example.com. for further details.
