Joining Heaven and Earth in Spring: A Seasonal Workshop in Ikebana/Kado
with Alexandra Shenpen
March 29 / 7:00 PM - March 30 / 6:00 PM
The contemplative art of flowers, ikebana or kado (the way of the flower), inspires us to pause and appreciate the immediacy of the seasons and our own state of mind. Traditional, expressive, and deeply human, our instincts pull us toward presence in nature. Awakening our senses through arranging branches, flowers, water & space, with each stem we express our longing for a harmonious and fresh world. Through exploring this disarmingly simple yet sophisticated art, we can settle down and uplift ourselves and others. Discover, deepen, or rediscover your feeling for O-hana/flowers. Everyone welcome, new or with experience.
- Fresh materials provided; please bring small bucket if possible (to transport home nicely at end of workshop).
- Equipment (clippers/container/kenzan) available for use during workshop (available for purchase online at Ziji).
Please register early -- this program is limited to 12 participants. A wait list will be available if there is interest.
Materials fee of $25 includes plant materials and supplies.
There is a 25% discount for anyone who has offered flower arrangement at SMCD in the last six months. Please contact us at Denver.Shambhala.Treasurer@gmail.com to discuss this discount.
