Tuesday Sitting Meditation
May 21 / 6:00 PM - May 21 / 7:00 PM
Shamatha is a practice of mindfulness of the breath done in a sitting posture, in silence. It helps us to connect with the movements of our mind, our thoughts and emotions, and to learn how to stabilize the mind. Shamatha means «resting in peace, calmly abiding». Shamatha practice is at the basis of Shambhala and Buddhist teachings and is practiced by teachers and students at all levels at Shambhala centre. It is sometimes called «Sitting meditation».
The Tuesday evenings allow people to practice meditation for an hour and then, have a cup of tea (or herb tea) and participate in discussions on subjects linked to meditation and mindfulness practices. Teachers are available to answer questions.
