 Introduction to Protector Practice
with Ian Powell
April 9 / 7:00 PM - April 9 / 8:30 PM
The motto of the Dorje Kasung is "Victory over War". War represents the struggle with the three poisons identified by the Buddha: passion, aggression and ignorance. Victory is being willing to face these poisons and meet them head on with insight and loving kindness.
Introduction to Dorje Kasung is a program appropriate for meditation students in the Shambhala Buddhist tradition who are interested in a path of service and protection.
The evening consists of:
+ the fundamental need for protection within a wisdom tradition
+ the Shambhala approach to enlightened protection through "Victory Over War" + the path of Dorje Kasung protector practice
"Culturally, we have to get over the notion of aggression and how the military has been a destructive force. In terms of people taking care of each other, it's one of the best models that we have." - Makkyi Rabjam Jampal Dradul
Pre-registration is recommended. Comfortable clothing is suggested.
