Parinirvana Day

On the anniversary of the parinirvana (death of an enlightened being) of the Vidyadhara, Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, the whole community is invited to practice the profound Sadhana of Mahamudra, which the feast section of this practice is usually reserved for advanced students. There will be a celebratory period during the feast section where devotional poems, songs, dances and other remembrances of the Buddha activity of the founder of Shambhala are offered.
The day begins with a formal opening of the shrine and a color party led by members of the Dorje Kasung. After breakfast, the morning session includes sitting practice and circumambulation of the site of the cremation of Chögyam Trungpa.
We ask that those attending the feast participate in preparing for the feast during the afternoon or in cleaning up afterward or both.
