Mindfulness for Tweens

December 8 / 11:00 AM - December 8 / 12:00 PM

“Mindfulness for Tweens” provides kids age 9 to 12 with a fun, thoughtful introduction to Buddhist principles of mindfulness, awareness and compassion. Teens (13 and up!) are welcome to attend our Learn to Meditate class on Sunday afternoons from 12:30 to 1:30.

This year our tweens are exploring the Four Dignities, a path that allows for deeping mindfulness in every day life. Each dignity is represented by an animal (Tiger, Lion, Garuda, Dragon) and teachers will be exploring one of these animals, in sequence, over the course of two classes. Previously covered material will be reviewed each class so no need to worry if you miss one! Class will begin with a brief introduction of the attributes of each animal, kid-friendly readings followed by hands- on, interactive activities.

Parents are welcome to participate in the Sunday meditation period, and can receive meditation instruction if interested or participate in the class with their children. If you are not interested in participating in any Sunday morning programming, you may relax in our community room, as parents are required to remain on site while their children attend the program

A donation of $10 per child per class is requested, but not required.  Please register for the class if you are able; particularly so we can plan age-appropriate activities.  Walk-ins, however, are welcome as well.
