Treatise on Enlightened Society Lung and Presentation [5:30 - 6:30 pm]
March 7 / 5:30 PM - March 7 / 6:30 PM
Everyone is invited.
During the 2012 Harvest of Peace address, the Sakyong publicly introduced his Treatise on Enlightened Society and launched what he called a "cascading lung" (oral reading transmission of this text) that enables the treatise to be shared person-to-person, within and beyond the Shambhala community.
What we are calling the "cascading lung" is likely the first ever "open-source" lung in our community in which all people are invited and empowered to not only receive, but also give, the reading transmission. The Sakyong is inspired to see the text spread according to lines of genuine inspiration and find its way into the hearts of any human beings who are inspired by a vision for enlightened society. Then they could read and contemplate the text, as in the tradition of hearing, contemplating, and meditating.
Written while Sakyong Jampal Trinley Dradül was on his year-long retreat in 2010, the Treatise on Enlightened Society clarifies the meaning of enlightened society, a theme that has played an integral role in the Shambhala vision. This theme has been discussed in our community for many years, but it has not always been understood. The Sakyong is offering this treatise as a way to elucidate the relevance of enlightened society in the modern world. May it awaken the intellect, goodness, and magic of all.
