 The Enlightened Society Internship Program
February 21 / 5:00 PM - February 21 / 7:00 PM
Enlightened or awake society begins with personal transformation, training and leadership from each individual. By awakening our own bravery and compassion and working with others we can bring tremendous benefit to this world.
The Enlightened Society Internship Program at Sharchen Dzong is a Shambhala Buddhist leadership training program emphasizing the path of profound service and community engagement. Interns sign up for four month periods, offering eight to fifteen hours of service to the center a week. In return they receive monthly leadership training workshops, a Shambhala mentor, free programs at the center, and full access to the community work space.
Internship Positions include event hosting and coordination, department assistants, and community organizers. Check-Ins and Study Group takes place every other Thursday at 5:00pm. Leadership Training Sessions take place once a month on Saturday afternoons alternating between the San Francisco and Berkeley Shambhala Centers. Topics include:
The Six Ways of Ruling Taking Leadership As the Path Creating Uplifted Environments Organization and Team Building Creative Process Working With Wealth Mindful Communication Conflict Resolution and Diversity Awareness

Interns commit to daily meditation practice, participation in community events like open houses, and a curriculum of ongoing study.
As an intern you receive mentoring and guidance by a meditation instructor on the path of service and leadership, free programs, and unlimited access to the community workspace.
Who is it for? The internship program is for anyone interested in deepening their meditation practice, strengthening their leadership skills and contributing to creating Enlightened Society at the SF Shambhala Center.
