Midwinter Solstice and Children's Day Celebration
December 21 / 8:00 AM - December 21 / 10:00 PM
Celebrated at the time of the Winter Solstice, Children's Day provides a special opportunity to celebrate with, and express appreciation for, our children. The Winter Solstice is the time of year when the night is longest, and we gather in community to mark and celebrate the return of the light. Come for all or part of the day's festivities, and note that children are welcome to participate throughout the day.
8:00-11:00 am: Light breakfast and morning practice. Child care available from 9:30-11:00
11:30-1:00 pm: Community potluck and craft table. Come share food and conversation. Create something fun for the afternoon celebration.
1:30-4:30 pm: Afternoon celebration. Music, dance, drama, laughter, and the Shambhala king and queen. Bring an unwrapped gift to share with a child in need.
7:00-10:00 pm: After-party at Happy and John's, 74 NE Morgan St., Portland, OR 97211. Cocktails, DJ music, bonfire, informal conversation. Call 713-503-6667 for directions.
