The New Haven Shambhala Center is pleased to offer the second class in the new Basic Goodness series, entitled  How Can I Help?:  The Basic Goodness of Society.  This course will focus on our relationships to home or household; money and economy; work and career; entertainment and technology, along with an exploration of the true nature of society and what it might mean for us to be able to help our world. We will learn about bodhicittta (awakened heart), communication, virtue and how society arises as an expression of interconnectedness.

During the course, we will practice "sending and taking" (tonglen) meditation as a main practice in cultivating compassion and skillfulness.

Shastri Frank Ryan and Susan Ryan have studied directly with the founder of the Shambhala community, the Vidyadhara Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche and his successor, Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche for over thirty years. Frank and Susan, part-time residents of New Haven, have taught extensively throughout New England and North America.

Prerequisites are completion of any ONE of the following:

Shambhala Training Level I (or)
Contentment in Everyday Life (or)
Who am I? The Basic Goodness of Being Human.

We are always willing to work with financial obstacles and find alternative means of payment for programs.
