with Benoît Côté
July 19 / 4:00 PM - July 27 / 10:00 AM
This program has a FREE tuition option (only pay for meals and accomodation)! A weekthün is a week-long group meditation retreat that provides a precious opportunity to deepen our connection with mindfulness/awareness practice, as well as to self-reflect on the contemplative aspect of our life. The program's strong container is an excellent way to establish or re-establish an ongoing meditation practice that will permeate our life. This will be a very unique weekthün that takes place at Dorje Denma Ling at the same time as Family Camp. All the generations will come together to practice, play, and create enlightened society together. Children will join the weekthun for a chants each morning, then will leave to enjoy Family Camp. All are welcome.
Benoît Côté has been a student of Shambhala Buddhism for over thirty years. For many years, he was a member and part of the teaching and administrative staff of Centre Shambhala de Montréal. In 2002, he retired from his university professor position to be involved fully with the Shambhala organization. From 2005 to 2007, he was resident teacher at Karmê Chöling, the Shambhala retreat centre in Vermont. In 2009, he moved to Halifax, and in 2010, was appointed by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche as one of the three shastris, or senior teachers, assigned to the Halifax/Dartmouth area. He also works as editor for Shambhala Media.
Full program tuition: $560 plus accommodations: We invite all who are able to do so to pay the full tuition rate. By doing so, you make it possible for us to offer scholarships to others, while also covering the direct cost of your stay here and contributing to our year round operations. Interest free payment plans for 6 months are an option for those who choose this tuition level.
Discounted program tuition: $320 plus accommodations: If the full tuition is unworkable for you, please pay the discounted rate if you can. By doing so you contribute towards the cost of your being here and everything it takes to keep DDL operating year-round.
Discounted tuition plus payment plan $53/month: If having 6 months to pay makes the discounted tuition possible for you, please choose this interest free option. The payments would be $35 per month for tuition; if you add lodging to the payment plan it would be $52.50/month in a hut/cabin or $81.67/month in the Lodge. If you select this payment plan option, after finishing your registration, please call the registrar at DDL to set up the payment schedule.
Free tuition: Pay only $ 160 for eight days of delicious meals, plus accomodation. Dorje Denma Ling is offering a free tuition option for our practice intensives this year, including this program. If you choose this option, you will be charged only for meals and accommodations. We welcome you to choose this option if the payment plan option above still does not make the program affordable for you.
Please Note: Above prices include meals but not accommodations. For summer programs, we offer three lodging options:
Bring your own tent and set up on one of our tent platforms: free
Hut/cabin/dorm tent: $20 per night, $160 for the week
Gyatso Lodge: $45 per night, $360 for the week
Gyatso Lodge has double and triple rooms with shared hallway bathrooms. The huts, dorm tents and cabins have 2 - 8 occupants and share an outdoor bath-house.
