Dharma Gathering/Open House
with Deborah Marshall & Cheryl Kiras
January 6 / 10:00 AM - January 6 / 1:00 PM
Join us at 10am with an introduction to Shambhala, meditation instruction and practice. At 11, a senior teacher offers a dharma talk, followed by discussion. Refreshments and socializing follow. Donations are appreciated. The talk topic for this month is "What Is a Dorje Kasung?"
Have you often wondered about the Kasung presence at the Shambhala Center? Join us to learn about the basic principles of the Dorje Kasung. The term Dorje Kasung itself means indestructible (Dorje) command (Ka) protector (sung). The Dorje Kasung is modeled on the ancient tradition of dharma protectors. Its members are trained in protecting the space in which practitioners are able to hear and practice the teachings. The protection extends to the teacher who presents the teachings, the teachings themselves, and the community who practice the teachings.
