Lojong: Training The Mind and Cultivating Loving Kindness

with Anandi Gefroh
March 20 / 7:00 PM - April 24 / 9:00 PM

Prerequisite: At least 6 months of meditation practice.

Based on the original Seven Points of Mind Training of Atisha, a 10th-century Indian Buddhist master whose teachings left a deep imprint on all Tibetan lineages, this practice-oriented course introduces two essential practices of the bodhisattva warrior: Tonglen (Exchanging Self For Other), and contemplation of the Lojong (literally, "mind training") slogans.

We live in complex relationships with other sentient beings, which affect us emotionally. These two mahayana practices can transform deep-seated patterns and bring compassion, clarity, peace and openness into those relationships, providing a way to transform the obstacles of daily life into aids on the path of actualizing our full potential.

Note: the following books will be required for the class and will be available for purchase at the Shambhala Center for a 30% discount:
