Program Details

Urban Weekthun - June 16 thru 22 [9am to 5pm daily]

June 16 / 9:00 AM - June 22 / 5:00 PM

"Someone says a harsh word and something in you tightens.  Instantly you are hooked!  That tightness quickly spirals into blaming the person or denigrating yourself."  This is how Pema Chödrön describes habitual patterns of response.  A word is spoken, an action takes place, and we respond with a knee-jerk reaction.

During this week of meditation, Pema Chödrön's DVD series Choosing a Fresh Alternative will be used to help us begin to interrupt this chain reaction.  This non-residential group retreat will provide the framework for deepening our meditation practice of calm abiding as taught in the Shambhala Buddhist tradition.

This program is appropriate for new and experienced meditators.

Participation in the entire week counts toward one week of dathun, and fulfills a portion of the group practice requirements for attending Enlightened Society Assembly (formerly Sutrayana Seminary), Shambhala Guide Training and other Shambhala program requirements.
