Parinirvana Day Sadhana of Mahamudra Feast - Open to All!
April 4 / 6:00 PM - April 4 / 10:00 PM
On this day, everyone is invited to practice together The Sadhana of Mahamudra, including the feast offering, to commemorate the passing of the Venerable Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, founder of the Shambhala Buddhist lineage. That feast practice is usually for a restricted attendance, but is open to all on this special occasion.
The Shambhala Centre will provide the sacred food and drink substances needed for the feast; the rest of the food is provided pot-luck style. Please bring a dish to share. Cost for the feast is $5 if you bring food, $10 if you are unable to bring something. Please bring your own plate, silverware, and glass/cup if you can, and plan to wash them at home (our kitchen is very small!).
During this year’s feast celebration we will screen a 28 minute video of the Vidyadhara teaching us the great view of emptiness. From a seminar entitled Viewing and Working with the Phenomenal World, (Naropa summer session1, June 1976), it is a fine example of the treasures being preserved in the collection of the Shambhala Archives.
There will also be a display of the Vidyadhara's clothing and personal items, and shrine objects in A Suite. Cushions will proved for people to sit and practice with these sacred objects during the day and after the feast in the evening.
