Open House Mondays

January 28 / 6:30 PM - January 28 / 7:30 PM

Everyone welcome!  An open night of meditation, sitting and walking meditation, taught by a qualified instructor.  Join other Pittsburgh community members in socializing and discussion after our practice.

What you can expect: We are located at the border of East Liberty and Highland Park, across from the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary.  We are in a 2-story former brick carriage house behind a 3-story brick Victorian house that is now the Western Pennsylvania Family Center, at 733 North Highland Avenue.  Street parking is available on Highland Avenue after 6 p.m. and all day on Sundays, with additional street parking on neighboring streets.  For those with mobility issues there is a small parking lot next to the Carriage House at the end of Supreme Way, the alley off Stanton Avenue. If using the lot, please be mindful of the proximity of our neighbors' cars.

Please arrive a few minutes early to take a look at our lending library, with books available to check out if you are a member or read on site if you are just visiting, have a cup of tea.  A member will greet you and you will have the opportunity to meet with a Shambhala Guide to get initial meditation instruction. There are opportunities to ask questions and clarify your practice.  Meditation instruction will also include walking meditation practice.  After your meditation instruction, you can join the group in the main area.  When practice begins we sit either in chairs or on cushions at a height appropriate for your body/flexibility.  At the end of sitting we break briefly.  Light snacks and tea provided.  Then join in a circle for reading and discussion.

Everyone is welcome!  Donations are gratefully accepted but not required.
