Enlightened Society Dialogues
with Carolyn Krusinski
January 6 / 9:00 AM - January 6 / 12:00 PM
The vision of Shambhala is to create enlightened society. By looking at these words, Enlightened Society, we gain a deeper understanding of this vision. Enlightened means awakening to the basic goodness that is here, the heart of our humanity. Society is the natural expression of that goodness. It manifests as a natural connection between beings that is experienced as kindness. - Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche, Treatise on Enlightened Society
In these challenging and uncertain times, many people are questioning the nature of humanity and society. In Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche's Treatise on Enlightened Society, he challenges us to look deeply at our own experience of human nature, and therefore the nature of society as a whole. Is it possible that despite all of our shortcomings and seeming faults, at our core, human beings are fundamentally good, whole, and complete? Is it possible that while the world is full of atrocities and pain, that the basis of human society underlying it all is goodness?
People all over the world are receiving the lung, or reading transmission, for this treatise, contemplating it and discussing it with others. Once a person receives this reading transmission, they may then pass it along to others who request it. In this way, the seeds of dialogues about societal transformation can spread rapidly by means of personal connections.
Join Shastri Carolyn Krusinski and Center Director Dan Glenn for an engaging dialogue about humanity and society. The morning will begin with the reading transmission of the Treatise on Enlightened Society. Following that, there will be opportunity for contemplation, discussion, conversation and celebration. It promises to be a dynamic and inspiring morning!
