Sadhana of Mahamudra Study Group

with Jesse Miller and John Osajima

In 1968, Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche went into retreat at Taktsang in Bhutan.  This is the site of the cave where Padmasambhava meditated and manifested as Dorje Trollo, his crazy wisdom form.  During this retreat, Rinpoche received and wrote down the Sadhana of Mahamudra, a profound and precious practice, which he generously offered to all of us to practice together regardless of our experience on the path.  In this class we will practice the sadhana and will study Rinpoche's commentary on it from two seminars he gave in 1975.  The Sadhana Sourcebook will be provided by Tamalpais Shambhala as part of the Materials fee for this program.  It is essential to do the reading of this material in preparation for each class.  Please join us for this rich and rare opportunity.

"The sadhana is based on two main principles-the ati principle of space and the mahamudra principle of energy.  It was written as a source of inspiration as well as a potential way of continuing the journey.  Inspiration here means awakening yourself from the deepest of deepest confusion and chaos and self-punishment; it means being able to get into a higher level and being able to celebrate within that.  The sadhana speaks of how the phenomenal world in all its simplicity and mundane quality represents the very highest, the most profound truth."
