Assistant Director Training

Please note: This will be a very small program, with participants limited to the Great Lakes Region.

Thank you for your interest in becoming an Assistant Director of Shambhala Training. Please verify that you meet the prerequisites listed below, or state why you are applying without meeting them. Notification of your acceptance status will be sent to you by email.


Once accepted, participants will begin preparatory practice and study in advance of the program. Please note that acceptance to train is not a guarantee of authorization as an AD.


Please note that we cannot process your application without a $15 fee.


Program Prerequisites:


I) Successful completion of Shambhala Guide program, completion of a dathün and completion of Warrior Assembly




II) Completion of Buddhist Meditation Instructor Training, and completion of Warrior Assembly


People applying for Assistant Director Training should also:

    • Have coordinated at least one Shambhala training program


    • Have an ongoing relationship with meditation practice


    • Be a member of a Shambhala Center.


People who are accepted to the training will participate in a six week preparatory class at your local center in addition to individual study of the Heart of Warriorship teaching guide prior to the weekend program.

Applications and recommendations must be received by January 20, 2013.

Meals are not included in the cost. Note that this program requires pre-authorization to register, plus a non-refundable application fee of $30. Applicants will be notified of their acceptance by January 25, 2013.


It is a tradition for students to offer the teacher a monetary gift in appreciation for receiving the teachings and in recognition of the years of training and understanding the teacher has cultivated. This gift is separate from the cost of the program.
