Innate Courage: Awakening from the Culture of Fear

with Gaylon Ferguson
December 2 / 12:00 PM - December 2 / 1:15 PM

What is it like to be fully present with discomfort and why would we want to do such a thing? Our everyday lives are filled with moments that we would prefer to hide from or deny. It takes fearlessness to live with open eyes and an open heart in our times. What is the path to fearlessness? How do we develop the bravery to deal with people and things?

Gaylon Ferguson, PhD, is the author of Natural Wakefulness: Discovering the Wisdom We Were Born With. He has led meditation retreats for 33 years. A graduate of Exeter, Yale and Stanford University, Mr. Ferguson was a Fulbright Fellow to Nigeria in 1994, after which he received a doctorate in cultural anthropology.  He taught cultural anthropology at the University of Washington and later served as a teacher-in-residence at Karme Choling.  Mr. Ferguson now spends his time writing and teaching the dharma at Naropa University.
