Shambhala Weekthun

with Stephen Clarke
January 1 / 9:00 AM - January 1 / 4:00 PM

Dear Greater Baltimore Shambhala Community,

We are pleased to announce that the Baltimore Shambhala Center will be hosting a weekthun (week-long group retreat) from December 26 through January 1, 2013, directed by Shastri Stephen Clarke.

Designed for both newcomers and experienced students, a weekthun is a week-long group meditation practice that provides a precious opportunity to deepen your connection with the different stages and techniques of shamatha/vipashyana practice. The program's strong container is an excellent way to establish or re-establish an ongoing daily meditation practice that will permeate your life on and off the cushion.

Full participation in this retreat fulfills one week of the Dathun practice requirements for the Shambhala Buddhist path. This sitting meditation intensive includes approximately 8 hours of daily silent meditation, Dharma talks and practice instructions, and meetings with a meditation instructor.

Sitting and walking meditation will be the core daily schedule, with time for study, group discussions, and short work periods. There will be periods of functional speech and days of silence during the program.

You are invited to participate for the entire week, for just a day, or for several days. Please consider coming to all or part of the retreat; however we ask that you commit to attending a full day. The cost for the entire weekthun is $250. Individual day registration is $35 per day.

You will be required to bring your own lunch and dinner, which will be eaten in silence in the shrine room.

Out-of-towners are welcome, and will be hosted in the homes of Baltimore Sangha members if requested. If you need assistance with housing, please contact Lisa Wenrich,

New Year Celebration

On December 31 we will celebrate the New Year with the Sadhana of Mahamudra and a party. The retreat ends on January 1, New Years with a half day of practice starting at 10 AM and ending at 4 PM

Generosity policy applies. No one will be turned away because of lack of funds.
