Shambhala Training Level V: Open Sky

In Level V our awareness continues to expand. This is likened to the open clear sky of mind, which is a delightful source of wisdom and uplifted energy. By learning to trust our nature enough to let go into the present moment with gentleness and precision, the Shambhala teachings help us to soften our hearts and appreciate the sacredness of our daily lives.


Shambhala Training Level V completes the first series of Shambhala Training levels.


Prerequisite: Shambhala Training Level IV.


For Way of Shambhala participants it is highly recommended to have also taken the course 'FEARLESSNESS in Everyday Life'.


Shambhala weekends are structured to offer participants teachings as well as an in-depth meditation retreat.  Attendance is required for the Friday night talk and for each session of the program. Participants can not register on Saturday morning if they have not attended Friday evening.




The Way of Shambhala series provides a strong foundation in mindfulness-awareness meditation and is composed of Shambhala Training Levels I-V, each followed by a five-week course. The series is designed to be applied to the complexity of our daily lives, and to develop courage and sanity in these troubled times of uncertainty. 'WISDOM in Everyday Life' is the last of the five courses and follows this Level V.


Over the course of a year, the Way of Shambhala introduces the entire Shambhala path. It offers a glimpse of the Shambhala vision of enlightened society by emphasizing the ways in which meditation can impact our daily lives, and from there, how the sanity of meditation can expand to impact our whole society.


The Way of Shambhala curriculum was designed by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche based on the Shambhala Teachings of his father, Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche. The Shambhala Path emphasizes the development of genuineness, confidence, good humor, and personal human dignity.
