Journey Without Goal, a Thursday Evening Class
with Steve Scarano
January 10 / 7:00 PM - February 14 / 6:00 AM
The Shambhala Buddhist tradition includes the special practices and path of tantra, or the Vajrayana, which are the pinnacle of view and skillful means that leads to ultimate wisdom and compassion. Journey Without Goal provides a glimpse of the tantric world and its requisites: the tantric student/teacher relationship, transmission of the teachings from teacher to student, “abhisheka” or empowerment, and the principles of vajra nature, mandala, the five Buddha families, and “sacred world”.
This course introduces the principles of tantra, or fruition practice, and is considered an advanced course. The readings are drawn mainly from the book, Journey Without Goal, compiled from a series of lectures Chögyam Trungpa gave at the Naropa Institute in 1974.
Six Thursdays, 7-9 pm, starting January 3rd.
Prerequisite: Lojong class or any other Shambhala class.
