THEME: True Perception. True Perception means seeing things as they truly are. As we explore the nature of perception we are confronted with two types: Direct perception and indirect perception. By direct perception we mean that which is experienced and understood simply by resting one’s sense perceptions on what is perceived. By indirect perception we mean that some knowledge or information is required in addition to our direct experience to fully perceive and appreciate what is before us. How do these two types of perception inform each other and our creative and viewing processes?

PROGRAM FORMAT: Teachers will meet on Jan. 3 to try out and discuss new teaching tools. For the balance of the retreat, Teachers and Program Graduates will explore individually and as a group, “True Perception,” through their chosen creative discipline. Participants will offer example(s) to the group for discussion. Participant may also choose to bring a digital camera to capture examples that can be shown to the group via a large monitor.
