Way of Shambhala 1: Joy in Everyday Life
with Sallie Noble
November 18 / 11:30 AM - December 23 / 1:30 PM
Joy in Everyday Life
Where do we find joy in our lives? Does it creep up on us? Do we spend much of our lives searching for it? According to the Shambhala Buddhist teachings, joy can be experienced in the most ordinary moments of life: in domesticity, work, or leisure. By cultivating the noble-heart of compassion, we open further to joy through engaging in practices that foster greater kindness toward ourselves and others in our everyday lives.
Through practical methods, Joy In Everyday Life helps us develop ongoing kindness towards others and ourselves. By training in virtue and compassion, we cultivate a gentle and fearless heart. With discipline, we discover joy. This class explores the Mahayana Buddhist teachings in combination with the dignity of the lion, and its qualities of cheerfulness, health and freedom from doubt.
Prerequisite: Contentment in Everyday Life (exceptions can be made; please contact us)

The Way of Shambhala I is our core practice and education program. It includes five Shambhala Training weekend programs (The Art of Bring Human through Open Sky), and five companion 5-week classes (Meditation in Everyday Life through Wisdom in Everyday Life). Students are encouraged to do both together, but it is possible to do just the weekends in order, or just the classes in order. To proceed beyond WoS I, all weekends and week night classes are required.
