Many movements in daily life require folding. We tend to fold in habitual ways. When a piece of paper is folded repeatedly in the same place, it becomes susceptible to tearing; so can we.
In this workshop, you'll explore how to fold more freely. You'll benefit whether you have a yoga or other movement practice, or simply move through your life getting into a car, sitting in a chair, or reaching.
• Limit: 12 students
• Requirement: Please be comfortable lying on your back, side, or stomach.
• Cost: $25 in advance; $30 at the door if there's room
• Wear: Several layers of loose-fitting clothing

In Awareness Through Movement (ATM®), the instructor guides students through a series of movement sequences organized around a particular function. Lessons consist of simple, small movements that gradually evolve into greater range and complexity.
ATM is the active version of The Feldenkrais Method, an expansive approach to human movement, learning, and change based on physics, neuroscience, and physiology, and the conditions under which the nervous system learns best. The techniques and theory were developed by Moshe Feldenkrais, D.Sc., a physicist and the first Western black belt in judo.
Instructor Angela Alston, GCFP, MFA, began taking ATM in 1996. She trained at the Feldenkrais Institute of NY with David Zemach-Bersin, and at the Feldenkrais Center of Houston with Paul Rubin, two of Dr. Feldenkrais’ original US students. Angela offers a regular series at MoveStudio and Our Space and workshops in Dallas and beyond. She also offers private lessons (Functional Integration). Angela has studied yoga and dance, and is an award-winning maker of dance films.
