Shambhala Training Level III: Warrior in the World
April 19 / 7:30 PM - April 21 / 6:00 PM
In level III, we make an effort to bring the mindfulness and awareness cultivated during our meditation practice into all aspects of our daily life. When we become awake to our sense perceptions, we can venture into the world with confidence and a vulnerability that is fearless, gentle, and alive.
The warrior in the world leaves the stuffiness of the cocoon to explore the world with direct perception. This can be the beginning of a life-long love affair with the phenomenal world – not based on the reference points of hope and fear, gain and loss. Along this journey we develop genuine confidence, humour and personal dignity.
Shastri Sekayi Stringer is a teacher, Shambhala Training director, and MI (Meditation Instructor) at the Atlanta Shambhala Center. She served on the Sakyong’s Council and chaired a diversity working group within Shambhala. Sekayi has been an early childhood educator for 27 years. She currently directors a child care center and trains teachers.
The shastris role is to bring the current understanding of the Shambhala Buddhist vision and teachings to their centres, to be a reference point for questions about the path, and in particular to help establish The Way of Shambhala curriculum as the core path. A major role of the shastri is to personally mentor and strengthen the local teaching mandala.
