with Judy Lief
March 8 / 7:30 PM - March 10 / 5:00 PM

Making Friends with Death: The Transformative Power of Mindfulness and Compassion

In this two-day workshop, Judy Lief, author of Making Friends with Death: A Buddhist Guide to Encountering Mortality, will present teachings and practices that can transform the way we relate to our own death and care for those who are dying.

We will begin by reflecting on our own personal experiences with death and learning about the power of mindfulness practice to reconnect us with our immediate moment-to-moment experience of change.

On that basis, we will discuss the nature of compassion and learn about contemplative practices designed to open the heart and cultivate loving kindness.
We will then discuss six guidelines for contemplative care and explore how contemplative training and understanding can be applied in our work with the dying.

This is a hand-on workshop, incorporating talks, discussion, and meditation instruction and practice. It is open to all: no previous meditation experience is required.
