The Year of the Water Snake
Shambhala Day marks the beginning of the Tibetan New Year, and represents one of the most important traditions of Shambhala Buddhism. It is a time for us to express the wealth and richness of our spiritual and cultural heritage through feasting, conviviality, elegance, and pomp. Each year, Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche addresses the worldwide Shambhala community through a video hook-up that includes centers and groups from 5 continents and over 25 countries around the world.
Schedule of the day:
8:30 - 915 am - Continental Breakfast featuring croisants and fruits 9:15 - 1000 am - Opening Chants and Elixir of Life Sadhana 10:00 - 11:00 am - Sadhana of Mahmudra 11:00 - 11:15 am - Break
11:15 - 12:30 pm - Celebration of Shambhala Warriors -honoring those who have worked to create Enlightened Society -New Members Recognition and Welcome -Community Blessing and receiving of Practice Books
12:30 - 1:30 pm - International Roll Call and Sakyong’s Shambhala Day Address 1:30 - 2:00 pm - International Fund Raising Event 2:00 - 3:45 pm - Community Pot Luck Banquet - Please bring a main or side dish - The center will provide dessert and beverages. 3:45 pm - Closing Ceremony

6:00 - 8:00 pm - Movie - “Crazy Wisdom” Discussion with VCTR senior students Potluck Supper - Coordinated by the Monday Night Sangha - “Shambhala in Story and Song”
