Shambhala Training Level III: Warrior in the World

with Chris Stockinger
December 14 / 7:00 PM - December 16 / 6:00 PM

In Shambhala Training Level III we work in a deliberate way. We make an effort to bring the mindfulness and awareness cultivated during our meditation practice into all aspects of our daily life. When we become awake to our sense perceptions, we can venture into the world with confidence and a vulnerability that is fearless, gentle, and alive.

The 'Warrior in the World' leaves the stuffiness of the cocoon to explore the world with direct perception. This can be the beginning of a life-long love affair with the phenomenal world -- not based upon the reference points of hope and fear, gain or loss. Along this journey we develop genuine confidence, humor and personal dignity.

The weekend classes includes meditation training and practice, talks by senior instructors, personal meetings with teachers, and group discussions.

Prerequisite: Shambhala Training Level II.

For Way of Shambhala participants, the course 'JOY in Everyday Life' follows this level. Therefore, by the time one is taking this level, one should have also taken the first two courses 'MEDITATION in Everyday Life' and 'CONTENTMENT in Everyday Life'.

The Way of Shambhala series provides a strong foundation in mindfulness-awareness meditation and is composed of Shambhala Training Levels I-V, each followed by a five-week course. The series is designed to be applied to the complexity of our daily lives, and to develop courage and sanity in these troubled times of uncertainty. 'JOY in Everyday Life' is the third of the five courses and follows this Level III.

Over the course of a year, the Way of Shambhala introduces the entire Shambhala path. It offers a glimpse of the Shambhala vision of enlightened society by emphasizing the ways in which meditation can impact our daily lives, and from there, how the sanity of meditation can expand to impact our whole society.

The Way of Shambhala curriculum was designed by Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche based on the Shambhala Teachings of his father, Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche. The Shambhala Path emphasizes the development of genuineness, confidence, good humor, and personal human dignity.

The entire Way of Shambhala Series is directed by thoroughly trained and experienced Shambhala teachers.
